LOTS TO SEE AND DO
The
wide safe promenade stretching 2 kms through Puerto del Carmen and
12 kms through Arrecife to Costa Teguise makes an ideal venue for
family bike rides. There are lots of cafes and restaurants on the
way and a very good shopping centre in Arrecife which is mainly
pedestrianised.
Also
in Arrecife is the castle which was built early in the 15th
century when the Spanish first took charge of the island.
Teguise
is another old town of great interest.
Nearer
at hand the Manta dive group organise diving for all near the
harbour in Puerto del Carmen.
Various
boat trips are available from Puerto del Carmen harbour. There are
trips to Fuertoventura and to the Papagyuayo beaches lasting a day
or one hour trips in glass bottomed boats to see the fish.
Submarines are available for the more venturous.
Windsurfing
is available at several points on the island depending on your
standard.
Graciosa
Island in the North is a delightfully quiet day trip. This is the
charming fishing harbour.
These
are only some of the less photographed attractions. The real
attractions are covered by the day and half day coach trips to the
spectacular volcanic features on the island. With over 200
volcanoes to see you will be returning and discovering more each
year.
